Marilyn Montero is a Clinical Hypnotherapist and creator of the Operating State Model™, a framework designed to identify the subconscious systems shaping human behavior, emotional regulation, and performance.
Her work is rooted in her fascination with the human mind — how perception is formed, how beliefs shape reality, and why capable individuals often find themselves repeating patterns they cannot fully explain.
To close to a decade Marilyn has worked directly with clients navigating trauma recovery, identity shifts, and major life transitions. Through thousands of hours of clinical practice and personal study, she observed that lasting change rarely occurs by simply addressing behavior.
It occurs when the underlying system behind the behavior becomes visible.
This insight led Marilyn to begin mapping the internal patterns she repeatedly witnessed in her work. Over time, those observations developed into what is now known as the Operating State Model™, a framework describing twelve subconscious operating states that influence how individuals perceive themselves, respond to stress, and move through the world.
Marilyn’s path into this work began during her formal training.
She has spent years studying the relationship between psychology, consciousness, trauma recovery, and human perception — exploring how emotional imprinting, belief structures, and nervous system responses shape a person’s experience of reality.
Her work integrates perspectives from:
• clinical hypnotherapy
• trauma healing and nervous system regulation
• subconscious behavior patterns
• consciousness and perception studies
• performance psychology
What began as a search to understand the deeper architecture of the mind eventually became the foundation of her professional practice.
At the core of Marilyn’s philosophy is a simple observation:
Most people are not limited by their capabilities.
They are limited by the subconscious systems through which they interpret their lives.
These systems influence how individuals respond to pressure, how they make decisions, and how they perceive themselves and others.
By identifying these operating patterns, individuals often gain a level of clarity that allows them to move forward with greater alignment, stability, and awareness.
Marilyn works with individuals who are seeking deeper understanding of themselves and the patterns shaping their lives.
Her clients often include:
• executives and entrepreneurs
• artists and high-performing creatives
• professional athletes
• individuals navigating major life transitions
• people seeking greater clarity about their emotional and psychological patterns
These individuals are often highly capable, yet curious about the deeper systems influencing their experiences.
Today Marilyn continues to refine the Operating State Model™ while working privately with clients seeking greater clarity about the subconscious systems guiding their behavior.
Her sessions focus on identifying the internal operating patterns that influence perception, emotional responses, and decision-making.

Understanding the system behind behavior is the first step toward changing it.

Many of the patterns that shape our lives—anxiety, habits, emotional responses, and recurring challenges—are rooted in subconscious programming.
Through clinical hypnotherapy, we can access the subconscious mind, identify the underlying patterns, and recalibrate them at the source.
If you're curious about how this work may apply to your situation, you’re welcome to begin with a brief consultation or schedule the OS Assessment™.
